Nutrition
If your hair loss is of a genetic nature, an increase in zinc or any other nutrients will not assist your problem. If your problem is nutritional, then your body-hair and nails will be affected too.
Circulation
Poor blood circulation does not have anything to do with Male Pattern Baldness. Massaging your scalp will feel nice but will not achieve anything. The fact is that there is more blood circulating in the typical male pattern baldness area than there is circulating around the sides and back of your scalp.
Blocked Hair Follicles
Blocked hair follicles, or sebaceous plugs do not stop new hair from growing through. If you have a blocked hair follicle it will become an ingrown hair causing a pustule, which will break the skin allowing the hair to continue growing normally.
Styling Products
Styling products cannot cause any hair loss problems as your hair is a build-up of proteins called Keratin which is of an inanimate nature.
Laser Treatment
Laser machines do not stop genetic male pattern baldness. The only thing that a laser is medically proven to do is to increase absorption of low-grade Minoxidil products and to increase the thickness of the existing hair strands. Our 98% effective regrowth programs may be sped up with the aid of laser treatment of which we supply in-house at no charge.
Testosterone Management
There are no known products or services (except castration!) that can block the Dihydro-testosterone hormone on a permanent basis.
Sodium Laurel Sulphate
Sodium Laurel Sulphate (found in most shampoos) is not a carcinogen. It cannot harm your hair in any way.
Dermodex
A mite called Dermodex does not have anything to do with genetic pattern baldness. It is estimated that 50% of all adults carry this mite which lives inside hair follicles. Although it does sound terrible to have the Dermodex mite present, in most cases you would not know that you have them.
Alternative Treatments
If a treatment regime is not based on FDA or TGA approved medications, prescribed by a doctor, you are not treating this medical condition correctly.
Wearing Hats
Wearing hats and helmets do not cause hair loss, unless the hat or helmet is worn so tight that it cuts off circulation to the follicles. Hats can actually contribute positively by preventing sunburn.
Hair Cuts
Cutting your hair will not cause your hair to grow thicker or faster. It will only appear thicker because the base of the hair shaft is thicker than the tip, so shorter hair (closer to the base) appears thicker.
Blow Drying
Frequent blow-drying will not cause hair to fall out. It will however cause hair to become brittle and prone to breakage.
Racial Background
Race is irrelevant. Hair loss affects all ethnicities. It neither decreases nor increases a person's chance of experiencing hereditary hair loss.
Genetic Causes
Ashley & Martin have proven that genetic hair loss can be treated if arrested early.
Over-washing
It is normal to notice more hair loss in the shower however, soap and water does not cause hair to fall out.
Ridiculous claims
Non-medical companies are claiming to have the same success rates as Ashley and Martin. Whilst imitation is a form of flattery, it is how ever very untrue. These companies do not have the ability to obtain what Ashley and Martin patients are prescribed. They also do not have the evidence to prove these claims. So for competitors to try to compare with Ashley and Martin regarding success rates is just illogical, delusional or are just using misleading tactics to get your money.

TGA clearance
We note that many products being sold now are making the claim that they are listed with the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration). This does not mean that they are proven to work it just means that they are safe to use. For any therapeutic benefit made regarding an AUSTL or AUSTR listed products must be vetted by the TGA advertising standards. Most non-medical companies are not even aware of the TGA role in advertising. To read more please go to http://www.tga.gov.au/advert/index.htm
Poisons Act
What does PHARMACY MEDICINE or PHARMACIST ONLY titles on medicine labels actually mean.
Pharmacy Medicine (schedule 2) means that the product is classified for distribution without a prescription either under the controls of a qualified doctor or a pharmacist.
Pharmacist only (schedule 4) means that the product is only available via a prescription and is distributed by either a qualified doctor or a pharmacist (any product that is compounded by a pharmacist must have a prescription by a doctor and is a schedule 4 product).
There are no exceptions to these rules and unfortunately all non-medical companies using any form of minoxidil based treatment break these regulations. To read more please go to http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/wa/consol_act/pa1964121/s20.html
Celebrity Endorsement
Over the past years, Ashley and Martin have been approached by celebrities to endorse our company. In fact we have even had a celebrity who announced to the media that he was on treatment and was now our spokesperson. Ashley and Martin do not do celebrity endorsements. We find the concept to be unprofessional as a medical company and more suited to a non-medical retail sales environment.
Denial
Denial of hair loss is commonplace and completely understandable. The problem is when the denial factor stops a patient from commencing treatment when the problem is first noticed. The best results are achieved at the earliest diagnosis of your condition. If a patient waits to long, then the options available will only be hair replacement and not treatment options.
Colouring of Hair
Hair colouring can’t cause hair loss however it can make hair snap. This is caused by the chemicals removing moisture away from the hair strands. To treat this problem, always use a quality conditioner and in some cases you might need a leave in conditioner. Always do a test patch when colouring your hair even if you have used the same product for years.
Hair Fall is not Hair Loss
Marketing companies of shampoo products have now cleverly adopted a term called Hair Fall. They have even conducted studies to show that Hair Fall can be reduced if you use their products. For most people this seems to be impressive. The facts however are not. The studies are based on if you use X brand shampoo and conditioner then you will experience less Hair Fall than if you use a competitors shampoo. This is factual with any shampoo. The truth is very simple – Hair Fall is just snapping of hair strands through removal of moisture from using a shampoo without conditioning. It has nothing to do with hair loss.
The water in this country is causing my hair to fall out.
Many patients from other countries have made the comment that “my hair loss only started when I moved to this country”. The natural conclusion is that it is something in the water causing this to happen. This is not the reason. The cause is that the human body is not designed to be removed from one environment and placed into another. The result of this massive transition can be either a hair shed (telogen effluvium) which will correct itself or as a trigger to start a genetic hair loss condition. This would have happened if patient stayed in the country of origin.
